THE PORT OF RAVENNA AUTHORITY
The Port of Ravenna is a multi-purpose port ranking first in Italy for the handling of cereals, foodstuff and feedstuff, fertilizers, clay and metallurgical products. Equipped to manage all types of goods including hazardous and exceptional project cargoes, the Port of Ravenna is also a leading Italian port as regards containerized cargo particularly in relation to its trade with the Eastern Mediterranean countries. In addition, the Port of Ravenna offers excellent intermodal services with the most important productive and logistics nodes of Northern Italy and Central Europe. The “Ravenna Port Hub: infrastructural works” Project, is a strategic infrastructural project financed by the Italian Government and by the European Union that comprises the further deepening of the port’s seabed up to 14,5 m (12,5 m in Phase I), the upgrading of its existing quays, the realization of a new container terminal and the creation of new vast areas destined for logistic activities (around 2 million sq. m.). As regards bulk cargo, the Port of Ravenna’s terminals provide excellent storage and processing services (milling, blending, bagging). In addition to the emptying and filling of containers, its container terminal’s highly equipped state-of-the-art facilities include reefer container cells and plugs, as well as automatic gates with a dedicated veterinary, health and phytosanitary control point in place within the terminal to help speed up import operations and significantly reduce daily logistic operation turnaround times.
