ITS course: “Multifunctional Technical Expert in Logistics and Railway Transport” in Emilia-Romagna

In November 2022, the new two-year ITS course for “Multifunctional Technician for Logistics and Railway Transport” began in Reggio Emilia. The course aims to train specialized technical profiles in the management and programming of intermodal railway services, offering the opportunity to obtain specific authorizations for the preparation, handling, and driving of trains.

The ER.I.C. Cluster’s main intermodal hubs in the Emilia-Romagna region, including Dinazzano Po Spa, Lotras Srl, Terminali Italia Srl, Terminal Rubiera Srl, Gruppo Sapir, Cepim Spa, Terminal Piacenza Intermodale, Northern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, Lugo Terminal, and Interporto Bologna Spa, strongly advocated for the initiative. This initiative integrates the training programs established by the Sustainable Logistics ITS Foundation, which in collaboration with the ITL Foundation, aimed to introduce a new training opportunity in the region, capable of meeting the growing demand for specific technical skills in the sector.

The training program not only enhances soft skills and language proficiency, but also focuses on developing a thorough understanding of the key aspects in the railway sector. Designed by Locomotivi Railway Training Center Srl and accredited by ANSFISA (National Agency for the Safety of Railways and Road and Motorway Infrastructures), the program aims to provide trainees with the necessary authorizations and licenses required for operations in the sector: PDT A – Train Operator, PDT B – Preparation of Escort Documents for Trains, PDT C – Vehicle Checks, European Driving License, Complementary Machinist Certificate.

The target audience of the initiative includes young people and adults who hold a secondary school diploma, as well as those with a four-year vocational education and training diploma who have attended an annual supplementary course in higher technical education and training.

The course is held in Reggio Emilia at the Cis School for Business Management (via Aristotele 109).
